Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Lays Foundation for ₹420 Crore Electric Bus Depot in West Delhi

 

New Delhi, Sept 23 : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art multi-storey electric bus depot in Hari Nagar, west Delhi. The ambitious project is estimated to cost ₹420 crore (about \$1.4 billion) and will be built under the “Seva Pakhwada-2025” initiative. The depot will have a capacity to park around 400 electric buses and is being developed on the same site as an old bus depot.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stressed on her government’s commitment to providing a clean, affordable and sustainable public transport system for the people of Delhi. She highlighted that the project is not just about building a bus depot, but is a step towards creating a green and clean Delhi.

Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh and Power Minister Ashish Sood were also present at the event. Rekha Gupta reiterated that her government’s priority is to improve last-mile connectivity across the city. As part of this vision, the number of DTC buses is set to double from the current 3,000 to 6,000 by next year.
