PM Modi Launches Projects Worth ₹5,125 Crore in Arunachal Pradesh, Lays Foundation for Major Hydropower Initiatives

Arunachal Pradesh, Sept 22 : On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Arunachal Pradesh to inaugurate several key developmental projects aimed at enhancing the region’s infrastructure and energy capacity. During a ceremonial event held at the Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, PM Modi unveiled foundation projects worth ₹5,125.37 crore.
Among the highlights of the visit were the foundation-laying ceremonies for two major hydropower projects in the Shi Yomi district. These projects are expected to significantly boost the state’s power generation capabilities and contribute to sustainable energy development in the Northeast.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister addressed a large public gathering in Itanagar. During his speech, he emphasized the symbolic and strategic importance of Arunachal Pradesh. Drawing a powerful metaphor, PM Modi said, “Just as the first color of the tricolor is saffron, Arunachal Pradesh is the saffron of India’s eastern frontier.” He described the state as a land of bravery and courage, acknowledging its cultural richness and national significance.
The Prime Minister’s visit underlined the government’s continued focus on Northeast India, with a push toward rapid infrastructure development, connectivity, and energy independence for the region.
