Sensex Zooms 929.40 Points To 59,183.22
Mumbai, Jan 3: The BSE Sensex on Monday registered solid gains of 929.40 thus breaching the 59K level to close at 59,183.22 as buying was seen across the board.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 271.65 points to 17,625.70.
The Sensex opened higher by 57 points at 58,310.09 pts. During the day it spurted 1013 points to 59,266.39, the days high, before closing at 59,183.22, surging 929.40 points from its previous close.
The sectoral indices like Bankex, Metal, Materials, Realty and Finance kept the market strong for another session. The Sensex registered the days high and low at 59,266.39 and 58,306.45 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 17,646.65 and 17,383.30 points respectively.
Bajaj Finance,the star gainer up 3.52 per cent at Rs 7222.30, followed by Bajaj Finserv by 3.49 per cent to Rs 16,963, ICICI Bank by 3.31 per cent to Rs764.75, Tata Steel by 2.85 per cent to Rs 1143.15 and IndusInd Bank by 2.79 per cent to Rs 912.40.
The losers were Dr Reddy’s Lab by 2.70 per cent to Rs 1519.70, M& M by 0.91 per cent to Rs 829.70, Tech Mahindra by 0.30 per cent to Rs 1785.15 and Nestle India by 0.04 per cent to Rs 19,699.05.
The Mid Cap rose by 1.10 per cent and Small Cap by 1.19 per cent.
Of 30 scrips, 25 advanced while 5 declined.
A mixed trend was seen in the Asian Markets, as Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.62 per cent., while South Korea’s Kospi gained 0.21 per cent, while the Taiex in Taiwan gained 0.13 per cent.
