For slow over rate, the Pakistani team was fined 25% of the match fee and five points were deducted from the points table of the World Test Championship. After the penalty, Pakistan’s PCT has dropped to 24.31, which is slightly above the 24.24 PCT of West Indies, who are at the bottom of the points table. The Pakistani team is at number 8 in the points table of WTC 2023-25 and has played 12 matches so far, out of which it has won four and lost 8. She is already out of the race for the final of the World Test Championship.
Pakistani captain admitted mistake
Five WTC points were deducted in accordance with Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship Playing Conditions, which states that a side is penalized one point for every over bowled short. The 25% penalty imposed on them pertains to minimum over-rate offences. ICC Elite Panel of Match Referee Richie Richardson approved the penalty. Pakistan captain Shan Masood accepted this and confessed to the crime.
South Africa had made a score of more than 600
In the second Test match against Pakistan, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first, which proved to be correct. The team scored a score as big as the Himalayas of 615 runs in the first innings. After this, it was the turn of Pakistani batsmen, but they flopped in the first innings and the entire Pakistani team was limited to only 194 runs in the first innings.
