Rabada completed 50 test wickets in Cape Town
Kagiso Rabada has bowled brilliantly in both the innings against Pakistan. He took three wickets in the first innings and three wickets in the second innings also. With this he has completed his 50 Test wickets at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. He has become the fifth South African bowler to take 50 plus Test wickets on this ground. Before him, Dale Steyn (74 wickets), Makhaya Ntini (53 wickets), Vernon Philander (53 wickets) and Shaun Pollock (51 wickets) have taken 50 plus Test wickets on the grounds of Cape Town.
In the history of Test cricket, there are only two grounds where five different bowlers have taken 50 plus wickets in Test cricket. One is the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town in South Africa and the other is the Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka. At the Galle ground, Muttiah Muralitharan (111), Rangana Herath (102), Prabhat Jayasuriya (71), Ramesh Mendis (62) and Dilruwan Perera (57) have taken fifty plus wickets in Test cricket.
Shan Masood’s captaincy innings went in vain
In the second Test match against Pakistan, South African team captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first, which proved to be correct. The team scored 615 runs in the first innings. After this, Pakistani batsmen could not stand against the South African bowlers and were out for only 194 runs. In this way Africa got a huge lead of 421 runs. But in the second innings, Pakistani batsmen played well and scored 478 runs. Shan Masood played an inning of 145 runs. Whereas Babar Azam scored 81 runs. It was only because of the good play of these batsmen in the second innings that the Pakistani team was able to avoid defeat in the innings.
