Sheldon Jackson: Announced retirement from white ball cricket at the age of 38.

Indian player Sheldon Jackson has announced his retirement from the limited overs format at the age of 38, in which he will not be seen playing any more matches for the Saurashtra team in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Sheldon had informed the team management about his decision just before the match against Punjab on 31 December. Sheldon Jackson has also been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL. Jackson will continue to play for Saurashtra in the red ball format.

This was Jackson’s record in limited overs format.

Sheldon Jackson is a brilliant wicketkeeper batsman, if we look at his record in limited overs format, he has scored 2792 runs in 84 List-A matches, in which his best score in a match was 133 runs, on the basis of which Saurashtra team won the title. Had won the final match of Vijay Hazare Trophy played in the year 2022. Jackson has 9 centuries and 14 half-centuries in his name in List-A format. If we talk about Sheldon Jackson’s record in T20 cricket, he has scored 1812 runs while playing in 84 T20 matches, which includes one century and 11 half-centuries. Apart from this, Jackson’s strike rate in T20 has been 120.07. Whereas in IPL, Jackson played 9 matches in which he managed to score only 61 runs.

I had taken the decision even before the tournament started

Regarding the decision to retire from the white ball format, Sheldon Jackson said in his statement to ESPN Cricinfo that even before the start of the Vijay Hazare tournament, retirement was on my mind and after every match I got closer to my decision. It was coming, in which I decided to retire just before the match against Punjab but the team management decided to say goodbye to me on the field for which I am grateful to everyone.
