Earlier in the year 1977, Chetan Chauhan, who had opened for the Indian team on the same ground, had returned to the pavilion after being run out. Yashasvi Jaiswal faced 118 balls during his innings of 82 runs, in which he hit 11 fours and one six. This was Jaiswal’s 11th innings in Test in the year 2024 in which he has managed to score 50 or more runs.

Jaiswal equaled Ravi Shastri and Kapil Dev

Yashasvi Jaiswal has equaled the record of Ravi Shastri and Kapil Dev with his inning of 82 runs in the Melbourne Test, in which this is his 13th inning of 50 plus runs in the Test at the age of under 23. The name of Sachin Tendulkar is included in the first place in this list, who had played 29 fifty plus innings in Test cricket before the age of 23. Jaiswal has equaled the record of Gundappa Vishwanath and Mohinder Amarnath in terms of playing most innings of fifty plus runs in Tests in a calendar year, in which this was his 11th innings.
