The ongoing controversy regarding Champions Trophy 2025 came to an end when ICC announced that the Indian Cricket Board i.e. BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have agreed on the hybrid model. Champions Trophy will now be played at neutral venues other than Pakistan. This means that the Indian cricket team will play all its matches at a neutral venue instead of Pakistan, which will also include the India vs Pakistan match. After this news came out, while some people are calling it a victory for BCCI, many people believe that Pakistan Cricket Board has benefited more. Meanwhile, a big statement has come from Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad in which he said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has missed the golden opportunity to host India by agreeing to the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The Champions Trophy will now be held in a hybrid model after India refused to go to Pakistan. Additionally, all ICC events till 2027 will follow this model and Pakistan will also play at neutral venues in events hosted by India. After this big announcement by ICC, Shahzad shared his views on this development and said that PCB missed a big opportunity to host India.

PCB missed the chance

Shahzad told YouTuber Nadir Ali that Pakistan had a golden opportunity to host India. All cricket boards had signed the agreement in 2021 that Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy. ICC cannot back down. I think PCB has missed the opportunity. We should forget that now the Indian team will ever come to Pakistan. Just forget it. The only way to bring India here was through an ICC event.

Shahzad suggested the idea

Speaking further, the opening batsman suggested a strange idea of building a stadium on the border of both the countries and playing matches there. He said he had earlier suggested the idea of building a stadium on the border in a podcast. One gate will be towards India, the other gate will be towards Pakistan. Players will come and play from the respective gate. But even then there will be problems for BCCI and their government. When their players come to the field for our side, they will need visas which they will not get.
