R Ashwin Retirement: Even though the third Test match played between India and Australia ended in a draw, R Ashwin surprised everyone by making a big announcement. As soon as the third Test at Gabba ended, Ashwin said goodbye to international cricket. Ashwin, who has taken 537 wickets for India after Anil Kumble (619 wickets), said in a joint press conference with captain Rohit Sharma after the third Test draw in Brisbane that he will not take much time. This is his last day as a cricketer of the Indian team. He said that he feels that there is still some cricket left in him, but he would like to showcase it at the club level now.

Ashwin performed brilliantly against the great teams of the world. He retired with 115 Test wickets against Australia and 114 against England. He took 115 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is the second highest number of wickets in the history of this competition. R Ashwin took 537 wickets in 200 innings of 106 test matches. During this period, he also achieved the great feat of taking 5 wickets in an innings 37 times. With Ashwin’s retirement, an important spot has become vacant in Indian cricket, which will not be easy for any player to fill.
