So will Mohammed Shami not be able to play for Team India soon? He has already missed three matches of the Australia series and it is believed that he will not be able to go for the remaining two matches also. Whatever Rohit Sharma said to the media after India vs Australia third test, this is the indication. It seems that Rohit Sharma is not completely satisfied with Shami’s fitness yet.

Shami has returned to the field after recovering from injury.

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has made it clear that at present he cannot afford to give a chance to Mohammed Shami in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. However, Shami has been playing on the field for quite some time. He started playing for his team Bengal in Ranji Trophy itself. After this he was also seen playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Now he has been selected for Vijay Hazare Trophy also. But Rohit Sharma’s thinking seems to be different.

What did Rohit Sharma say on Shami?

Rohit Sharma has deferred the entire matter to NCA i.e. National Cricket Academy. In response to the question asked about Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma said that now the time has come to talk to NCA about Shami. He said that Shami is currently in NCA and is undergoing rehab. He said that what is needed is that NCA should come forward and talk and tell us how Shami’s fitness is at present. Recently, Rohit Sharma himself had said about Shami that there is swelling in his leg. Now Rohit says that there are still some complaints regarding Shami’s knee. Therefore, we cannot take the risk of calling them here and playing. Rohit said that until Shami is 100 percent fit, he will not be called.

Played the last match for Team India in the World Cup

Mohammed Shami last played for India more than a year ago. He was seen playing for the Indian team in the ODI World Cup held in the year 2023. During this time he got injured and had to undergo surgery. It was expected that he would make a comeback before the Border Gavaskar Trophy, but it could not happen. Now it is believed that Shami will be able to make a comeback for the Indian team only in the Champions Trophy to be held in February.
