This time the Women’s Junior Asia Cup will be played between Muscat and Oman. The final match of the tournament was played between the Indian junior women’s hockey team and China. Team India defeated three-time champion China in the final match. India has won this title for the second consecutive time. Team India won this match 3-2 in the penalty shootout. Team India’s goalkeeper Nidhi made three brilliant saves in the final match played in Muscat. Due to which the Indian team could become champion. Narendra Modi said in a post on his Twitter account that congratulations to the Indian junior women’s hockey team for winning the Asia Cup title. The team showed great patience and determination. This success also shows the growing passion for hockey, especially among the youth. My best wishes to the team for their future endeavours. Apart from the Prime Minister, many other personalities have also congratulated Team India on its victory. Apart from this, Hockey India announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh to each player and Rs 1 lakh to each support staff for winning the championship.
How was the match?
Talking about the match played between India and China, Jinzhuang Tan (30′) scored the first goal for China in this match, but Kanika Siwach (41′) equalized for India in the third quarter. Scored a goal. After this, no player from both the teams scored a goal and the match went into penalty shootout. India’s goalkeeper Nidhi made three crucial saves during the penalty shootout and helped her team win the title. Sakshi Rana, Ishika and Sunita scored goals for India in the penalty shootout.
