Smriti Mandhana left everyone behind in one stroke, became the youngest player to reach this figure.
The Indian women’s cricket team’s ODI series tour of Australia proved to be quite disappointing in which they had to face one-sided defeat in all three matches. The last match of this ODI series was played on December 11 at the WACA Stadium in Perth, in which the Indian women’s team, chasing the target of 299 runs, was reduced to a score of 215 and had to face defeat by 83 runs. However, this match was definitely made special by Team India’s experienced opening batsman Smriti Mandhana in which she not only played an excellent century but also managed to achieve a special feat in international cricket.
Smriti became the fastest female player to score 8000 international runs
Smriti Mandhana played an inning of 105 runs in 109 balls in the third ODI match played against the Australian women’s team. With this, Mandhana also completed her figure of 8000 runs in international cricket by combining all three formats. In this case, Mandhana has now become the youngest player to do so in international women’s cricket. Smriti has achieved this figure at the age of just 28 years and 146 days. This was Smriti Mandhana’s fourth century in the ODI format in the year 2024, in which she has left behind many legendary players like Belinda Clark and Meg Lanning. If we look at Smriti Mandhana’s career so far, she has scored 3812 runs in 91 ODI matches and has managed to score 3568 runs in 145 T20 International matches. Apart from this, Mandhana has also played 7 test matches in her career so far, in which she has managed to score 629 runs.
Captain Harmanpreet gave a shocking statement on the shameful defeat
Captain Harmanpreet surprised everyone with his statement regarding Team India’s shameful defeat in the ODI series against the Australian women’s team in which he said that I think we bowled very well, especially Arundhati. We got to learn a lot from this tour, the way he bowled and batted. We will go back and analyze the entire tour and understand where we went wrong. Smriti’s innings was brilliant. We performed well at some places, but we could not continue our momentum, this is what we need to work on.
