Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan’s failure, final decision finally taken, India also accepted this
This time the hosting of Champions Trophy 2025 is in the hands of Pakistan. There is a lot of speculation regarding the tournament. A few days ago, BCCI had informed ICC that it will not allow Team India to tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. After which continuous discussions are taking place between ICC and Pakistan Cricket Board. Meanwhile, a possible breakthrough has emerged. It is believed that Pakistan Cricket Board and ICC have agreed that till 2027, the tournaments played in both India and Pakistan will be played in hybrid model.
These three tournaments will be affected
According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, an agreement has been reached between PCB and ICC, but PCB has not commented on it. He has only said that discussions are going on. However, there is no information yet whether this hybrid model will be applicable to both men’s and women’s cricket or not. If this applies to both, then a total of three ICC tournaments are to be played in both the countries from the year 2025 to the year 2027. In which the hosting of Champions Trophy in February 2025 is in the hands of Pakistan. Women’s ODI World Cup will be organized in India at the end of 2025 and Men’s T20 World Cup will be organized in India in 2026. However, Sri Lanka is also a co-host along with India in the T20 World Cup. In such a situation, these three big tournaments may be affected due to this agreement.
Decision will be taken on this day
A meeting was held between the new ICC Chairman Jay Shah and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on this issue on December 5, but still no exact decision has been taken yet. Now the board meeting to discuss the Champions Trophy has been scheduled for December 7. On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board had also asked ICC to compensate for the loss caused due to the hybrid model, but ICC has not accepted this condition of PCB. The report has also revealed that if Team India reaches the knockout, then the knockout matches in India will be played outside Pakistan. According to the hybrid model, all India’s matches can be played in UAE or Sri Lanka. If what is said in the reports turns out to be true then it will be a loss for India and BCCI as well. The tournaments played in India will be played on hybrid model. In such a situation, there will be loss of revenue.
