IND vs AUS: Frustrated by the defeat, Australia made a move against India, included a strong all-rounder in the squad.
The first match of the Border-Gavaskar Series 2024-25 was played between India and Australia in Perth. In this match, India created a big record by defeating Australia by 295 runs. Team India made the record of registering the biggest win at home against Australia. At the same time, after this defeat, there is panic in the Australian camp. This is the reason why Australia has shown Mitchell Marsh out of the team. In place of Marsh, the Australian team has included Beau Webster, who played for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield, in the Australian team for the second Test match against India. Beau Webster has been included in the team as cover for Mitchell Marsh.
30 year old all-rounder joins the team
Webster was included in the squad following his recent good performances in red ball cricket, including the two-match series against India ‘A’. In the unofficial ‘Test’ series against India A, Webster was the second-highest run-scorer for Australia A with 145 runs at an average of 72.50. He also took seven wickets at an average of less than 20. 30-year-old Beau Webster is thrilled to be included in Australia’s Test team. He said it was pleasing to get some runs and wickets for Australia A against a strong Indian team. Whenever you play ‘A’ cricket, it is one step below Test level, so it is good for you. It’s really a proud moment to join the team and I can’t wait for it.
Second test starts in Adelaide
The second Test match is to be played between India and Australia in Adelaide from 6 December. This test will be a day-night test match which will be played with pink ball. Australia is eyeing a comeback in the series with this match. This is the reason why the team has included a player like Beau Webster in its team so that both the bowling and batsmen of the Australian team can be strengthened.
Australia’s squad for the second Test is as follows: Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey (wicket-keeper), Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Nathan McSweeney, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster.
