IND vs AUS: Jasprit Bumrah broke a huge record, Wasim Akram also left behind
As soon as he reached Australia, Jasprit Bumrah started wreaking havoc with the ball. On the very first day of the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being played in Perth, Bumrah broke the back of Australia’s top order. Even though the Indian batsmen failed while batting first, they did wonders in bowling. When the Australian team came out to bat after India’s first innings was reduced to 150 runs, no one would have imagined that the bowlers of the visiting team would make such a bad situation for the Kangaroo batsmen.
In response to India’s 150 runs, Australia scored 67 runs on the scoreboard after losing 7 wickets at the end of the first day’s play. On the first day, Bumrah hunted 4 batsmen. After this, as soon as the second day’s play started, Bumrah did a great feat by showing Alex Carey the way to the pavilion and taking 5 wicket haul for the 11th time in the Test. He equaled Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma in terms of taking maximum 5 wicket hauls in Tests.

Not only this, Bumrah did a great feat of taking 5 wickets in a Test innings for the 7th time in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries. In this way, Bumrah equaled Kapil Dev’s record of taking maximum 5 wicket hauls in SENA countries. While Bumran equaled Kapil Dev, he also shattered the great record of Pakistan’s great fast bowler Wasim Akram. Bumrah took his 37th victim on Australian soil in the form of Alex Carey. In this way Bumrah became the Asian fast bowler taking the most wickets in Australia since 1990. He left behind Akram’s figure of 36 wickets.
