PCB insists on holding Champions Trophy, advises ICC to think about it
Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is to be organized on Pakistani soil. But BCCI has refused to send Team India there. ICC has informed PCB about this. In such a situation, there are speculations that the Champions Trophy will be held on a hybrid model. Because BCCI wants the matches to be held in some other country. On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board is firm on its stubborn attitude and has completely rejected the hybrid model. Rather, the PCB has sought clarity from the ICC as to why India does not want to travel to Pakistan.
PCB is waiting for reply from ICC
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that if India has any concerns about sending its team to Pakistan, then they should talk to us and we will resolve them. I don’t think there is any reason for India not to come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. He said that PCB has written a letter to ICC for more information on BCCI’s decision. He said that we are in direct contact with the ICC and we are waiting for their response so that we can take things forward.
ICC advised to think about credibility
When Naqvi was asked, will things become more difficult for the PCB if Jay Shah takes over as ICC President from December 1? He said things don’t work that way. Each board is independent and has its own identity. I think ICC should also think about its credibility because it represents all the cricket boards in the world.
On this occasion, Mohsin Naqvi avoided questions like removing cities of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) from the exhibition tour of ICC Champions Trophy and organizing the tournament with hybrid model. He said that I have come here to talk about the construction work of the stadium. We await the announcement of the schedule along with ICC’s response. We will complete the construction of stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi ahead of schedule.
