Why did Team India play match simulation?

BCCI has shared a video on social media. In this video, Nair reveals the entire team management’s thinking behind conducting the match simulation at the WACA. He told that just before coming to Australia, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, we had discussed what we want in these three days. The idea was to give a lot of time to the young and experienced players, so that they can adapt and understand.

He further said that we are coming to Australia to play Test cricket after four years. So initially, we called the players and made it like a game where once you are out, your game is over. But then we tried to give them another chance. We felt that the second time around the players adapted better, they understood the conditions better, they were much more comfortable. We got what we wanted.
