Bhubaneswar: Ration card Beneficiaries will get rice and wheat from the first week of January. Food Supply Minister Krishna Chandra Patra informed about this on Thursday.
He said, wheat has arrived but there will be a delay of two months as the work at the government level has not been completed. Some people do not want to take rice and wheat. And some people want to take wheat. Data has been requested from which district how many beneficiaries want wheat. Wheat will be sent to each district accordingly. A tender will be made for which company will take up this work. There is a slight delay due to this. However, we have decided that rice and wheat will be provided from January.
The minister further said, e-KYC work is going on. 85 percent of the e-KYC work has been completed. And 10 to 15 percent of the work is left. It will take another 15 days to complete the entire work. Similarly, a farmers’ meeting will be held in Bargarh Sohela by the end of November. The Chief Minister will announce the date in this regard. The farmers’ meeting will be held on the date the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announces. The minister said that more than 1 lakh farmers will participate in this gathering.
The previous government had stopped providing wheat to ration card beneficiaries in the state under the public distribution system from 2020-21. It had decided to provide only rice to the beneficiaries of the state.
