Bottle gourd vegetable is prepared on the day of Nahay-Khay, know how to make the first Prasad of Chhath Puja?
The four-day long Chhath festival begins with Nahay-Khay. Every year one has to bathe and eat on the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This year, Nahay Khay is on 5th November 2024 i.e. Tuesday. On the day of Nahay Khay, satvik food is prepared for the fasting person. This means that onion and garlic are not used even by mistake on this day. Fasting women take bath and worship and consume satvik food. On the day of Nahay Khay, bottle gourd vegetable and rice are eaten. Actually, there is a trend of making gourd vegetable or pumpkin vegetable on this day. This is the first Prasad of Chhath fast which is consumed by the fasting person and his/her family members. Without these, the fast of Chhath is considered incomplete. In such a situation, let us tell you how to make bottle gourd vegetable in Nahay Khay Prasad.
Ingredients for making bottle gourd curry:
1 spoon ghee, 1 bottle gourd, a pinch of cumin, half bowl gram dal, green coriander, 1 spoon garam masala.
Method to make bottle gourd vegetable:

First step: First wash a gourd and peel it thoroughly. Now we will cut it into small pieces. Add a pinch of cumin and chilli to 1 spoon of ghee. After that now add chopped bottle gourd pieces to it.

Second step: When the bottle gourd pieces become a little soft, mix soaked gram in it and also add garam masala. Now let the vegetable cook on medium flame.

Third step: When the gourd is completely melted then garnish it with coriander. Light 2 lamps in front of the picture of Chhath Maiya and offer gourd vegetable and bhata (rice) to the goddess. Perform the ritual puja and then consume this prasad.
