49 year old record broken in first ODI between AUS vs PAK, history repeated in MCG
The first match of the three-match ODI series being played between Australia and Pakistan was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in which excellent performance was seen from the bowlers of both the teams. In this match, the Pakistani team got a chance to bat first and it was limited to a score of 203 runs in 46.4 overs. In response, the Australian team also did not look comfortable at all while chasing the target but in the end it was successful in winning the match by 2 wickets. A unique miracle was also seen in this match in which not a single batsman from both the teams was successful in touching or crossing the mark of 50 runs. Due to this, a 49 year old record was also broken.
History repeated at MCG
In this first match of the ODI series played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, the highest individual score in Pakistan’s innings was seen from the bat of captain Mohammad Rizwan who scored a total of 44 runs. While chasing the target for the Australian team, the highest individual score was seen from the bat of Josh English who managed to score an inning of 49 runs. In this match, both the teams together scored a total of 407 runs. In this way, this is the third highest number of runs in any ODI match played in Australia so far in which not even a single half-century was scored. Earlier in the year 1975, in the ODI match played between Australia and England at Melbourne ground, both the teams together had scored a total of 381 runs and in this match also no player was successful in scoring a fifty.
