Tomato Price Hike Hitting The Consumer In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A fire at vegetable market in festive season. The rise in food prices has directly affected the consumer’s pocket. Tomato prices hit a hundred directly. Not only tomato but also other vegetables like onion prices are increasing. Few days back, tomatoes were being sold at Rs 60 per kg. But suddenly it has reached 100 rupees.

The supply of tomatoes to Odisha has been disrupted due to the rains in the country. Due to this, the traders are saying that the price has increased, but the consumers are not accepting it easily during the tight budget of monsoon’s festive season.

Tomatoes are now coming to Odisha only from Bengaluru. There, too, harvests have been affected due to rainfall. New harvesting tomatoes are supposed to come to Odisha now from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. But it is difficult to come to the state for rain and flood.

It is said that the prices are not likely to come down until new tomatoes arrive.
