Bhubaneswar: The notification for the Rajya Sabha elections will be released today. This will start the nomination process. Nominations can be submitted till next 21st. 22nd day is scheduled for scrutiny of application form and 27th day for withdrawal of application form. Voting will be held on September 3. That seat has become vacant after Mamata Mohant’s resignation. BJP is waiting to announce who will go to Delhi after Mamata.
Taking into account the numbers of the Assembly, the Rajya Sabha seat is sure to go to the BJP. The strength number of the party is 78. Even the support of 3 independent MLAs is with BJP. There is a lot of speculation that the BJP may once again send Mamata Mohanta, who left the BJD and joined the BJP, to the Rajya Sabha. Apart from this, the names of State President Manmohan Samal, former Union Minister Vishweshwar Tudu, former State President Sameer Mohanty are also in the race.
