Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on the phone. Mamata requested the Chief Minister to take it seriously and intervene. On the phone, Mamata said, “Some people from West Bengal have come to Odisha to work. But the local people suspecting them to be Bangladeshi, are beating and abusing him.
Mamata requested Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to take such an incident seriously. Along with this, Mamata appealed to the workers of West Bengal to return to their state.Â
On the other hand, Mohan Majhi has assured Mamata that such an incident will not be repeated in the future. According to the information, yesterday in Basudebpur, 6 people were beaten up on the suspicion of being Bangladeshis and the local residents lodged them in the police station. While 6 persons were traveling in an auto in Basudebpur Bazar, the local residents stopped them and asked for their identity cards due to suspicion.
However, 2 of the 6 passengers in the vehicle showed their identity cards. As a result, they were beaten up by the local people and handcuffed by the police.
