How The Odisha Govt. Will Control The Rising Price Of Potatoes?
Odisha: For the past few days, potato prices have been normal, but now the potato fire is raging in the market. On the one hand, while West Bengal is not producing potatoes, the hope of potatoes coming from the neighboring state Uttar Pradesh is now rooted out. Which has made potato expensive in the Odisha market. Potatoes have increased from 20 rs to 25 rs in one day and the team has now reached 60 rs. Such a crisis has arisen due to lack of potatoes in Cuttack Chhatra Bazar and Bhubaneswar Aiginia potato godowns due to insufficient potatoes coming from Uttar Pradesh.
However, the potato dispute started in Odisha after neighboring West Bengal refused to supply potatoes. After the Chief Minister himself went and discussed with the West Bengal government, West Bengal gave some potatoes to Odisha. Later, due to West Bengal’s involvement in this, the government, seeing its merits, planned to import potatoes from Uttar Pradesh. When it was decided to bring potatoes from Uttar Pradesh to the state, a few days ago some trucks loaded with potatoes arrived in Odisha.
After that, the market also had the normality of potatoes. Now even the Uttar Pradesh government has not been able to supply Odisha with potatoes. As a result, the potato crisis has been seen in Odisha again. Due to non-delivery of potatoes to the potato godowns, potato scarcity has arisen in the market. Yesterday, where people used to buy potatoes for 35 to 40 rupees, this morning it was seen that they bought them for 50 to 60 rupees.
On the other hand, Minister of Food Suppliers, Consumer Welfare, Krushnachandra Patra said that if there is a shortage of potatoes in Odisha, potatoes will come from Punjab. So now the question is how the Odisha government is controlling the rising price of potatoes? Can Punjab and Uttar Pradesh together meet the shortage of potatoes in Odisha, or will the government seek help from West Bengal again?
