No Flood Threat To Odisha: EIC, Water Resources

Bhubaneswar: The current rains have brought good news. For the first time, all the reservoirs in Malkangiri have been filled with water due to the rain. Although there was 20 mm of rain in the upper reaches of the river yesterday, the situation is normal. 2 lakh 70 thousand cusecs of water is flowing in Munduli near Naraj. By 9 am, there was 608.73 feet of water in Hirakud Reservoir. 1 lakh 30 thousand cusecs of water is stored in Hirakud Dam and the same amount is being drained.

Similarly, if it rains for another two to three days, then measures will be taken based on the situation, said Bhakti Ranjan Mohanty, the top engineer of the water resources department. Similarly, the 6 gates of the river are open and will remain open. The decision will be taken tomorrow according to the rule. We opened 3 gates of Lower Indravati, today those gates will be closed. However, there is no threat of flood, said the top engineer.

Similarly, five lakh cusecs of water was to be released to Munduli. 4 lakh 85 thousand cusecs of water flowed. So there is no flood. The water level of Budhabalanga is rising. It is 6 meters below the hazard code. The golden line and the water level are rising and falling. It will be good if the water level of Lower Suktel Dam rises to 197 meters due to rain in Bolangir. So far its water level has reached 194 meters. The flood water is rising here for the first time. We have opened all the gates.
