Puri: About 10,000 quintals of rice offered in the name of the Lord have been destroyed due to not being used for months. Suar Mahasuar Nijog directly said that Mahaprasad can no longer be prepared with this rice. Therefore, Nijog has proposed to the administration of Sree Mandir to think about its alternative.
More than 14 thousand quintals of rice and betel nuts, offered by the devotees during the inauguration of Puri Heritage Corridor project. It has been stored in the Shree Jagannath temple Administration at Puri since the month of establishment i.e. January. It’s been more than 6 months, the rice has not been utilized at all. However the authorities concerned did not utilize the rice for any purpose.Â
During the previous govt. A separate vehicle was employed across the state which collected the Arpana Chaula and betel nut. The devotees were not aware of what the rice will be used for.Â
Initially, around 4 thousand quintals of Arpan Chaula were handed over to the Suar-Mahasuar Nijog for preparing Khechudi Bhog around 4 months ago. From the 4 thousand quintals, only 3 thousand quintals were used so far. Now more than 10 thousand quintals and one more thousand quintals of rest 4 thousand quintals of rice are now rotting in the store rooms. Â
Now the question is how the rice packets will be used. On the other hand Suar-Mahasuar servitors have claimed that rice packets are unfit and could not be used for the Prasad. Additionally they offer a solution as well. According to the Suar-Mahasuar Nijog, the remaining rice should be distributed among needy people.Â
Lord Jagannath is the Master of the World. Jagannath devotees offered rice for the sake of God. Now who will take the responsibility is the question of debate. Â
