Jeypore : In a devastating incident near Dumuriguda under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Jeypore, three individuals lost their lives, while four others sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision involving two motorcycles. The accident occurred on Tuesday night, sending shockwaves through the community.
The deceased have been identified as Padman Harijan (24) of Dhanapur, Gopal Harijan (22) of Jayantgiri, and Dhananjay Harijan of Sanamandapadar, marking a sorrowful loss for their families and the local area.
Reports suggest that the mishap unfolded around 10:30 pm, as a group of bikers was returning to Jeypore following a cultural event at Dhanpur. Tragically, four individuals were riding on one motorcycle, while three occupied the other, both traveling in opposite directions. The collision, which occurred on a reportedly dark stretch of road, resulted in all seven individuals being thrown off their bikes, adding to the severity of the incident.
Prompt response from local authorities led to the victims being swiftly rescued and transported to the district headquarters hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, three of the individuals succumbed to their injuries. Two of the injured were later transferred to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital due to the critical nature of their condition, as confirmed by Sadar police station in-charge Ishwar Thandi.
