Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Announces Creation and Upgradation of Notified Area Councils and Municipalities Across State
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled plans for the creation of 34 new Notified Area Councils (NACs) in 20 districts of the state. Additionally, five existing NACs in four districts will be upgraded to municipalities, marking a significant stride towards enhancing urban infrastructure and services.
The Chief Minister’s announcement, which comes in response to suggestions received from the public during the recent visit of 5T Chairman Kartik Pandian to various districts, underscores the government’s commitment to responsive governance and inclusive development.
Under the initiative, Boudhgarh in Boudh district, Karanjia in Mayurbhanj, Kantabanji in Balangir, and Chhatrapur and Aska NACs in Ganjam district have been elevated to municipalities, signaling a transformational shift in their administrative status and responsibilities.
The creation of new NACs reflects the state government’s proactive approach to address the evolving needs of local communities and accommodate the growing urban population. The 34 newly established NACs span across diverse districts, including Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Balangir, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nuapada, Rayagada, Subarnapur, Sundargarh, Nayagarh, Khordha, and Cuttack.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the decision to establish these new NACs was driven by factors such as public demand, population growth, and the imperative for sustained economic development. He expressed confidence that the newly formed NACs will serve as catalysts for progress and prosperity in their respective regions.
The list of new NACs includes Pallahara and Chhendipada in Angul district, Basta and Simulia in Balasore district, Paikmal and Bheden in Bargarh district, Agarpada in Bhadrak district, Belapada and Saintala in Balangir district, Binjharpur, Panikoili, Jaraka, and Chandikhol in Jajpur district, Jaipatna in Kalahandi district, Raikia in Kandhamal district, Borigumma in Koraput district, Sinapali in Nuapada district, Chandili, Muniguda, and Bissam Cuttack in Rayagada district, Dunguripali in Subarnapur district, Bonai in Sundargarh district, Sheragada and Kukudakhandi in Ganjam district, Kantilo in Nayagarh district, Tangi and Begunia in Khordha district, Salipur, Baramba, Narsinghpur, and Niali in Cuttack district, Betanoti in Mayurbhanj district, Parjang in Dhenkanal district, and Kantamal in Boudh district.
