The heartening incident unfolded when Shyama and Angshu, a couple traveling from Howrah to Rourkela by the Samleswari Express for a wedding, inadvertently left behind their bag upon de-boarding the train at Rourkela.
A vigilant RPF officer, conducting routine checks aboard the train in Jharsuguda, spotted the abandoned bag during a stop in Balangir. Swift action was taken as the officer immediately alerted the local police station, prompting authorities to gather details about the passengers. With diligent efforts, the RPF managed to establish contact with the couple and requested them to retrieve their belongings from Balangir.
Upon examination, it was revealed that the bag contained precious items including diamonds and Malabar gold coins. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Shyama and Angshu expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the RPF for not only finding their lost bag but also alerting them before they even realized it was missing. Shyama, unable to contain her emotions, conveyed, “I don’t have words to express my feelings. I thank them endlessly from the bottom of my heart.”
