Bhubaneswar: Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh is set to take oath as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, marking a significant milestone in his esteemed legal career. This appointment comes following his tenure as the acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, as announced by the Centre on February 2.
Born on January 20, 1963, Justice Singh embarked on his journey in law after obtaining an LL.B. Degree from the University of Delhi’s Campus Law Centre. His dedication and prowess in the legal arena led to his enrollment as an advocate on October 30, 1990. Over the years, he honed his skills and garnered extensive experience, particularly in service, Constitutional, and criminal matters, along with cases involving Central Excise, Customs, and Labour Laws.
Justice Singh’s commitment to legal excellence was recognized early on, as he was appointed as Additional Standing Counsel of the central government in 1998, a position he held until October 2001. He further solidified his standing by serving as panel counsel for the Patna High Court on its administrative side, handling a spectrum of cases with finesse. Additionally, his expertise was sought by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, who appointed him as panel counsel to represent the Accountant General Office in Patna High Court.
Recognizing the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, Justice Singh underwent training as a mediator in 2006. Subsequently, he was appointed as a mediator for the Patna High Court Mediation Centre, showcasing his commitment to facilitating peaceful resolutions.
In acknowledgment of his legal acumen and contributions to the field, Justice Singh was designated as a Senior Advocate on September 18, 2010. His dedication to public service was further underscored by his appointment as Additional Advocate General for the Government of Bihar in December 2010, a role he fulfilled with distinction until his elevation as an Additional Judge at the Patna High Court on April 4, 2012.
Justice Singh’s illustrious career reached new heights when he assumed the role of Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court on February 6, 2023.
