Chief Minister’s 5T Chairman Kartik Pandian Reviews ISBT Baramunda Project Progress
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik’s 5T Chairman, Kartik Pandian, conducted a thorough review of the ongoing Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) project at Baramunda. The site visit, taking place at 5 am, aimed to evaluate the project’s advancement and ensure its swift operationalization. The ISBT at Baramunda is poised to become a vital transit hub, not only for Odisha residents but also for those from neighboring states.
During the visit, Shri Kartik Pandian prioritized safety and passenger amenities. The chairman emphasized the need for the bus stand to provide airport-like facilities for commuters, ensuring a seamless and comfortable travel experience. He directed officials to expedite finishing activities and complete the ISBT Baramunda project by mid-February.
Shri Pandian meticulously examined various facilities for commuters, including waiting areas, sanitation facilities, bus bays, upcoming F&B outlets, lighting installations, and restroom facilities. He commended the Operation Control Centre (OCC) and recommended appointing tech-savvy individuals for its efficient management.
Shri Pandian directed officials to incorporate proper Odia signages and map facilities to guide commuters effectively. His focus on local language representation aligns with the commitment to ensuring that the facility is accessible and user-friendly for all.
Under the guidance of Shri Kartik Pandian, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) team has been urged to expedite the remaining finishing activities. The aim is to dedicate the ISBT Baramunda project to the people of Odisha by mid-February 2024.
Spanning over 15.5 acres of land, the ISBT Baramunda project, spearheaded by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), is set to provide a diverse range of passenger amenities, office spaces, parking facilities, food courts, restaurants, and commercial areas. With a design that mimics the ambiance of an airport, the Baramunda ISBT is a significant undertaking that promises a modern and efficient transportation hub.
The terminal boasts state-of-the-art amenities, including the Aahaar Centre, restaurants, multistoried car parking, pick-up/drop-off facility, solar panel system, and a sewage treatment plant. Additionally, provisions have been made for a police facilitation centre to ensure passenger safety, administrative building for terminal operations, toilet facilities, ramps for passengers with disabilities, and baby feeding rooms for traveling mothers.
Other facilities include a children’s play area, a primary health clinic, and additional parking for seasonal buses. During the site visit, the VC of BDA, DCP Bhubaneswar, BMC commissioner, senior officers of BDA, and the executing agency were present, showcasing the collaborative effort to ensure the successful completion of this transformative project. The ISBT Baramunda is expected to provide a world-class travel experience, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to modern and efficient transportation infrastructure.
