Moscow, Dec 24 : Palestinian movement Hamas highly appreciates Russia’s efforts in the UN Security Council to end the fighting in the Gaza Strip, as a result of which the Palestinian people are suffering in the enclave, a member of the political bureau of the movement, Osama Hamdan, said on Saturday.
“We highly appreciate the responsible position of the Russian delegation that tried to make serious changes to the draft resolution that would contribute to the end of this Nazi war against our people, but this attempt was confronted with the position of the United States, which continues to be an accomplice in this crime,” Hamdan said at a press conference.
On Friday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. However, it blocked a Russian-proposed amendment calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities due to the position of the United States.
