Bhubaneswar: Odisha is keeping a strict vigil on the border districts after detection of Omicron variant of covid 19 in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. Director of Public Health, Niranjan Mishra said steps are being taken to accommodate Omicron positive patients in separate blocks in the existing covid facilities and not to allow them to come in contact with other patients.
He said Omicron positive patients would not be allowed to stay in home isolation and would be kept in separate wards in hospitals to prevent them from coming in contact with other patients as it is five times more transmissible than the Delta variant.
Mr. Mishra said all dedicated Covid hospitals are on standby mode and the facilities can be made functional, if needed in a day or two. He said a strict vigil is being made on the people arriving in the state from outside, particularly the
risk countries.
