Jharkhand Assly Pays tribute to Late CDS Bipin Rawat

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Assembly on Thursday paid its tributes to the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff late General Bipin Rawat.

Assembly Speaker Ravindranath Mahto led the house in paying tributes to late General Bipin Rawat and other defence personnel who were martyred in the helicopter crash which took place in Coonoor of Tamilnadu on December 8.

Apart from General Rawat the house also paid tributes to former Ichagarh MLA Sadhu Charan Mahto, former Vidhansabha Adhyaksh of Bihar Sadanand Singh, former Union Minister Oscar Fernandez, renowned writer Mannu Bhandari and journalist Vinod Dua.

The house also offered its tributes to 25 people killed in Uttarakhand due to heavy rainfall, seven girls who were drowned while immersion of Karam Dali in Latehar and seven people who were killed due to lightning in Garhwa and Palamu districts of the state.

Leader of the house and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Aalam, leaders of the BJP, AJSU, CPI-ML and Independents also paid their tributes. The house also observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect towards the departed souls after which the house was adjourned till 1100hrs Friday.
