Bhubaneswar, Oct 19 (UNI) The capital city Bhubaneswar will be kept under high security cover from Friday to next Wednesday for smooth celebration of annual Durga Puja.
Bhubaneswar- Cuttack Commissioner of Police S Priyadarshi told newspersons here that the entire city would be put under CCTV surveillance for six days and 31 platoons of police would be deployed in every nook and corner of the city to prevent any untoward incidents during the festival.
The Commissioner said 12 Additional DCPs, 23 ACPs, 41 Inspectors, 151 ASI, and 500 Constables will be deployed across the city and Bhubaneswar DCP will monitor the entire security arrangement.
Priyadarshi said this year Puja is being celebrated in 188 mandaps in Bhubaneswar. The Puja mandaps have been divided into three categories and security deployment will be made in each Mandap as per their category.
He further said six control rooms have been set up and striking forces have been deployed at strategic places to respond to any emergency situation.
The police have issued a toll-free number to report extortion and forceful donation demands from miscreants during puja.
The Police Commissioner appealed to the people to ensure safety of their house while going out during the puja.
