Puri, Oct 12 : Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has issued a written advisory to the hotel and restaurant association of Puri (HAP) to sensitise their boarders intending to visit Sri Mandir to use decent and appropriate clothes.
Elaborating details,SJTA Chief Administrator Ranjan Kumar Das on Thursday said in many shrines across the country there are dress codes for devotees which are strictly followed.
Voices were raised against devotees found with inappropriate dress in the Sri Jagannath temple. The issue came up before the temple administration seeking imposition of dress patterns in the temple.

Of late the temple discipline sub committee have resolved to streamline the decency in dress to maintain the spiritual ambience inside the shrine.
The decency in dress will be enforced from January 1 next and before that a mass awareness among the devotees will be conducted from Tuesday.
Since the hotels are the transit point from where visitors plan their visit to the temple after arriving at Puri the temple administration have sought their cooperation.
The advisory said though the temple administration have not prescribed a list of dresses for devotees during the temple visit ,it left it on the devotees’ conscience to use decent and appropriate dress for their temple visit.
It suggested that gents wear dhoti/full pants shirts while ladies wear saree/salwar kameez, and other dresses appropriate for temple visit.
Visitors wearing ragged jeans, torn half pants, with mutilated look and transparent dress will be prohibited from entry into the temple, the advisory said.
