TMC GS Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira appears before ED
Kolkata, Oct 11 : Rujira Banerjee, wife of Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee (MP), on Wednesday deposed before the probing officials of the Enforcement
Directorate (ED) in relation to the alleged irregularities in the
appointment of teachers in the West Bengal government schools across the state, official sources said.
Banerjee, arrived around 11 AM as per the summons by the ED at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake.
The central probe agency is investigating the money trails in the alleged cash for jobs in the schools to the unqualified candidates by depriving the qualified aspirants, sources added.
This was the first time that the wife of the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha member and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appeared before the federal probe agency in the case, which is being monitored by Calcutta High Court.
Rujira Banerjee had earlier appeared before the probe agency in the
alleged coal smuggling case in the state.
The ED on October 4 summoned Rujira Banerjee to present before its probing officers on October 11.
Abhishek Banerjee, his wife, MP’s father Amit Banerjee and mother Lata Banerjee have been called by the ED in relation to their connection in the Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd in which the TMC general secretary is the CEO and his relatives were the directors.
The company is under the scanner of the probe in the alleged cash for jobs in the state owned schools.
Calcutta High Court has directed the ED to produce details of
their income and assets.
Sources said the MP, his father and mother have given details of the documents to the ED.
