130 take Oath of Affirmation as GTC soldiers
Shillong, Jul 10 : Altogether 130 recruits were inducted as soldiers of 58 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC) at an attestation parade on Saturday here in Meghalaya.
The passing out parade of the 190th batch was held at the at the Harish Parade Ground, GTC Headquarters, in Happy Valley, Shillong.
“The parade marked the culmination of rigorous recruit training during which young boys are transformed into physically fit, mentally robust and professionally competent young soldiers of Indian Army,” Defence Spokesperson, Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh said.
“In an impressive ceremony marked by immaculate turnout and precision marching, 130 recruits took the ‘Oath of Affirmation’. These young soldiers will now be dispatched to their battalions dedicated to serve and protect the motherland,” he said.
The parade was reviewed by Officiating Commandant, 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Colonel Vibhu Vashishtha under strict observation of COVID-19 protocols.
Colonel Vashishtha congratulated the young soldiers for the successful completion of their training while also exhorting them to strive to be finest soldiers of Indian Army.
During the presentation ceremony, Recruit Ashish Roka was awarded the Overall Best Recruit of 5 GR (FF) and Recruit Rahul Singh Dhami was awarded Best Recruit of 8 GR.
