Bhubaneswar, Sep 2 : The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has scripted its best-ever April-August performance in major production areas.
The steel plant produced 1879716 Tonnes of hot metal, 1729462 Tonnes of crude steel and 1748349 Tonnes of saleable steel during the first five months of the current fiscal, registering an impressive growth of 5.8 percent, 4.3 percent and a massive 15.1 percent respectively over the corresponding period last year (CPLY).
This apart the sinter production of 2977587 Tonnes and average combined power generation from CPP-1 & CPP-3 (72.99 MW) during the period were also the best ever performance since inception
of the steel plant.
The RSP also set a record by dispatching 1730231 tonnes of saleable steel, clocking its best ever dispatch for the first five months and improving its last year’s record by 11.23 percent.
Several other units of the plant also achieved their ABP targets for the month of August.
The state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 rolled 224381 tonnes of total HR Coils to record best monthly production in August, 2023. The New Plate Mill also rolled 84129 tonnes of plates to register its
best Production for any August month.
The plant also registered the best monthly dispatch of finished steel by dispatching 385,321 tons in August, 2023 by rail and road. The month also bears significance as Manganese Ore mining was resumed from Bolani Ore Mines of Odisha Group of Mines of RSP after a gap of 48 years. The first rake carrying Manganese was dispatched to Rourkela on August 30 last.
