Toxic gas claims five lives in Madhya Pradesh

Morena (MP), Aug 30 : Five labourers – including three siblings – died on inhaling poisonous gas on Wednesday after descending into a tank within an edible products factory at Dhanela village in this district of Madhya Pradesh.
The first worker entered the tank to clean it. When he did not come out, the other workers descended by one into the tank Suspecting something was amiss. However, they met a similar fate. The deceased were identified as brothers Ram Avtar Gurjar, Ram Naresh Gurjar and Veer Singh Gurjar besides Rajesh Gurjar and Girraj Gurjar.

In the words of Collector Ankit Asthana, “The plant has been sealed and the management has assured ex gratia of Rs 1 lakh each in addition to employment for one member of every affected family. Tension was generated owing to the incident but law-enforcement authorities brought the situation under control.”
