Padmashri Jayanta Mohapatra, Prof of Physics and a stellar figure of literature is no more. The 95 year colossus of poetry and prose passed away early hours today bereaving the world of literature.
A student of Stewart School in Cuttack was born in 1928 who had his post graduation from Patna University in Bihar.
Despite his academic roots in Physics, Mohapatra mastered an impeccable hold in literature and became the first Odia to ger the Sahitya Academy award in English poetry and had an enviable command over poetry and prose in English.
In 2009 he was awarded the Padmashri in the field of literature
