Fodder Scam: Lalu Yadav appeared before Court
Patna: Rashtriya Janta Dal(RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Tuesday appeared before the CBI special court in connection with multi crore rupee fodder scam case.
The Ex-CM of Bihar appeared along with his lawyers in the court of the special judge Prajesh Kumar amid tight security arrangements.
Lalu Yadav remained before the court for 5 minutes during which he requested the judge to exempt him from physical presence on each hearing. He, however said that whenever it will be needed and the court orders, he would be present before the court. During the last hearing in the case the court had ordered for physical appearance of every accused. Complying the order Lalu Yadav appeared before the court during the day.
Apart from Lalu Yadav three other accused also appeared before the court in connection with the case while 15 other accused appeared before the court through their lawyers.
The matter would be heard again on November 30. The court has ordered the CBI to produce its witnesses in connection with the case related to fraudulent withdrawal of rupees 46 lakhs of animal husbandry department from Banka sub-treasury.
The CBI had lodged the case 63 A/1996 in the year 1996. The investigating agency had filed charge-sheet against 44 accused. Some of the accused died whereas the hearing was continued against 28 accused of which some also passed away.
