Covid materials,medicines worth lakhs destroyed in fire in OSMCL godown
Bhubaneswar, July 10 : Medicines and other materials on Covid worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed after a fire broke out in the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) warehouse in the Mancheswar Industrial Estate area of the capital city late Sunday night, sources said on Monday.
As many as six fire tenders battled for several hours to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
A huge quantity of Covid-19 materials, including masks, sanitizer, PPE kits, saline, and oxygen cylinders, were kept in the warehouse and destroyed in the blaze.
The fire brigade team had to break the walls of the godown with the help of a bulldozer to enter the building to douse the flame.
Though the cause of the fire is not yet known, It is suspected that it might have been caused by a short circuit.
The damage has not yet been assessed.
