Bhubaneswar,June 23: A lady Social Welfare Officer was arrested on Friday by Odisha vigilance in a disproportionate assets case.
Vigilance sources here said Jayanti Behera, Ex-District Social Welfare Officer, Bhadrak and at present posted as Social Welfare Officer (Hdqrs),in Women and Child Development Department, Bhubaneswar was arrested by Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance,for possession of disproportionate assets.
Property to the tune of 145 percent of her known source income was detected in her name and in the name of her family members during vigilance raids
Vigilance officials had registered a case against Behera, and her two sons U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018.
During house searches, movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Behera, and her family members.
