2 Bengal Tourists Drown To Death In Sea At Puri, 1 Rescued
Puri: In a tragic incident, two tourists from West Bengal drowned while bathing in the sea here today. According to lifeguards, this drowning incident was reported from sector 12 and 13 bathing zones on Puri beach.
It is worth mentioning that, yet another tourist who was bathing with them was rescued by the Odisha fire services personnel. He has however been admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Puri.
The identities of the deceased have not been ascertained yet. According to initial investigation by police, the deceased duo was from Howrah in West Bengal. They had arrived in Puri on Tuesday night along with along with three others. They had gone for a bath in the sea on Wednesday morning. During the sea bath, the ill-fated duo was swept away by the current. Others had a narrow escape.
The other two were swept ashore after some time. They were rushed to the district headquarters hospital.
However, they were declared dead by the attending doctors at the hospital.
While the identities of the deceased have not been established, the one undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital has been identified as Sunil Sekhar.
