Sambalpur: Violence hit Sambalpur town is gradually limping back to normalcy.This came after the prohibitory orders were revoked from areas under Town and Dhanupalli police jurisdictions.
Curfew was lifted earlier from Khetrajpur, Ainthapalli, Bareipalli, and Sadar police station areas in two phases.
The decision to lift the curfew was taken after considerable improvement in the overall law and order situation that went for a toss following a clash during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. Prior to that stone pelting incident was also reported on April 12, 2023.
The curfew was imposed in areas under six police stations. Initially, the curfew was relaxed in some areas after the situation calmed down after the restrictions.
The police have so far arrested nearly 100 people. On the other hand, a total of 16 people were arrested for posting objectionable articles on social media and were freed on production of undertaking.
