Light showers brings respite from heat in Odisha, Thunderstorm & Hail To Bring Down Temp; IMD Forecast
Light showers brought some respite to people from the scorching heat in Odisha, many parts of the State experienced light rains with thundershowers today afternoon which led to a drop in the soaring mercury levels.
According to the IMD, due to likely interaction of middle tropospheric westerly trough with lower level easterly,
and moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, Meteorological conditions are becoming favourable for moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning.
“Conditions are favourable for moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty surface wind and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over the districts of Odisha during next 3 to 4 days,” the IMD said in its midday bulletin.
People have been advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect themselves from lightning and also follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
The day temperature across the state is very likely to fall by 3 to 5°C during the next 3 days, it added.
Notably, Bhubaneswar, which had recorded the season’s highest of 42.6 °C on Thursday, was cooler at 29°C this afternoon. Jharsuguda recorded 37.6 °C followed by Gopalpur (36°C), Balasore (31.8°C) and Chandbali (33°C) by 2.30 pm.
