Ryan Rickelton has become the first player for South Africa to score a double century in the World Test Championship. Before him, no South African player had been able to score a double century in the WTC. Apart from this, he has become the South African batsman to score the highest score in Test on the grounds of Cape Town.
Did such a feat after Graeme Smith
After 12 years, a player has scored an inning of 200 plus runs while opening for South Africa in a Test against Pakistan. Before him, Graeme Smith had scored 234 runs while opening in the year 2013. For South Africa, so far only three batsmen have been able to score a double century in Tests against Pakistan. Among these, Ryan Rickelton, Graeme Smith and Herschelle Gibbs had scored double centuries.
