Sumit Nagal: Defeated French player and made place in Auckland main draw.
The year 2024 was not much better for India in tennis, but with the beginning of the new year, the country’s number-1 male tennis player Sumit Nagal has made a great start in which he defeated better-ranked France on January 5. The player has booked his place in the main draw of the ATP 250 tournament ASB Classic with a straight sets victory over Adrian Mannarino. Sumit is currently ranked 98th in the World Tennis Rankings, so his performance can be considered a very good start.
Sumit defeated the French player in straight sets
Sumit Nagal’s match against French player Adrian Mannarino was very important as he needed to win this match to make his place in the Auckland main draw. Sumit defeated Mannarino of France 7-6 in the first set, while in the second set also he continued his brilliant game and did not give Mannarino any chance to make a comeback and won 6-3. Also secured their place in the main draw. While Sumit’s world ranking is 98, France’s Adrian Mannarino is currently at number 66, hence Sumit was able to do this feat by defeating a better ranked player than him.
