Neeraj Chopra: Neeraj Chopra is counted among the best javelin players of India. He won gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020 and silver medal in Paris Olympics 2024. Apart from them, Manu Bhakar, PV Sindhu and Sushil Kumar have won two medals in the Olympics for independent India. Neeraj’s fitness is amazing and the credit for making Javelin famous in India goes to him. Now India will organize Javelin tournament later this year, in which Neeraj Chopra will also participate.

Javelin tournament confirmed by outgoing chief of AFI

Indian Athletics Federation said that India will probably host the Javelin tournament in September this year in which many star players including Neeraj Chopra will participate. The event is in addition to several tournaments that India has expressed interest in hosting. This also includes the World Championship to be held in 2029. Outgoing Athletics Federation of India (AFI) president Adil Sumariwalla confirmed that India has expressed interest in hosting the 2029 World Championships and the World Relays tournament in 2027. The AFI has already expressed its willingness to host the 2028 World Junior Championships during the visit of World Athletics President Sebastian Coe to India in November last year.

World’s top players including Neeraj will participate

Adil Sumariwala said on the first day of the annual general meeting of the sports federation that India will host a top javelin tournament later this year, in which the top 10 players of the world will participate. Neeraj Chopra will be there. He is part of the team that will organize this tournament. JSW, a foreign firm and AFI are jointly preparing for this tournament.

Neeraj Chopra has consistently advocated hosting international events in India to raise the level of athletics in the country. In many countries, such tournaments are organized to promote a sport. Javelin tournament to be held in India may be held after September.
